The castle also had a deer park and a vineyard. Today, only the ruins of Wolvesey Castle remain. If you're more interested in a water mill than a ruined castle, you might want to visit the Winchester City Mill, a historic water mill that dates back to the 11th century and has been in continuous use for over 900 years, making it one of the oldest working mills in the country. The mill is located on the River Itchen and was originally used to grind grain for the estate of the Bishop of Winchester. The mill is now a popular tourist attraction and working museum where visitors can learn about the history of the mill and see it in action.
